HUDSON – Retailers on Broad Street in Hudson are looking to showcase their own corner of the town’s thriving business community with a winter market at the Landing at Hudson Mills later this year.
Molly Allene, owner of Brooklyn + Rye, a beauty and wellness shop, is one of the organizers of the event.
“We’ve got artists, makers, people that bake things – there’s going to be a variety of vendors,” she recently told the Community Advocate. “We’re planning on having no overlap.”
Allene noted that, within 24 hours of advertising the market, 10 vendors signed up to participate. She said she hopes live events like the winter market will attract more Hudson residents to the Landing, which offers a collection of retail, restaurant and wellness spaces.
“This is a great opportunity for people to get to know the businesses inside the mill, and to know that there is so much more to Hudson than downtown,” said Allene. “We offer things that are unique, elevated and entertaining.”
Hudson’s Main Street, which was recently recognized through the 2021 America’s Main Streets “Road to Recovery Contest, has seen ongoing investment and revitalization efforts from within the community and from the state.
The Landing has grown similarly at its location on Broad Street.
“It’s a showcase piece. It’s got all these different businesses on this beautifully redone Main Street area, which is great,” Allene said of the downtown area. “But the same thing is happening inside at the mill.”
Allene said retailers hope to hold more events like this in coming months, including a proposed outdoor summer market.
“We wanted to pull the curtains back and invite the people from the community to see the tenants and see the market,” said Allene.
The winter market is scheduled for Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. within the lobby of The Landing at Hudson Mills at 43 Broad Street.
