MARLBOROUGH – Marlborough firefighters were able to quickly knock down a reported fire in the kitchen area of a structure at 37 Lincoln Street on Monday night.

The alarm was struck at 6:31 P.M.

Engines 1, 3, 4, Rescue 1, Tower 1 and Car 5 (the Shift commander’s vehicle) were dispatched to the fire.

Assistant Chief Jeff Gogan also responded to the scene.

After knocking down the fire, firefighters then opened the ceiling and walls in the area to check for any fire extension.

Firefighters reported that this was somewhat difficult due to the tin ceiling in the kitchen. The incident was closed out at 8:19 P.M.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Marlborough Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit. A damage estimate was unavailable as of publication.
