Westborough – Joan P. Tufts, 86, of Ashland and formerly of Westborough, passed away peacefully at home following a lengthy illness on Saturday, January 22, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on January 25, 1935, in Westborough MA., at home to the late George & Estelle Bain.
Joan was trained in Boston at a secretarial school and worked for many years as a medical secretary in the Metrowest area.
She married Hugh K. Tufts Jr., also of Westborough, in 1954 and they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2004.
Joan and Hugh loved to ballroom dance, often giving demonstrations in area nursing homes. They also enjoyed golfing together.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Hugh K. Tufts Jr. and her brothers Richard and Robert Bain.
Joan leaves behind three children; Robin Tufts and her husband Michael Adams of Greenland, NH, Larry Tufts and Karen Haskins of Marstons Mills, MA and Sharron Tufts of Ashland, MA her fulltime caregiver and best friend. She also leaves her two grandchildren; Christopher Tufts and his wife Haley of Cranston, Rhode Island and Alexandra Ficks and her husband Carlton of Fryeburg, ME. She was the great grandmother of Collin & Savanah Tufts and Henry & Russell Tufts. She also leaves her two sisters-in-law and nephews Geoffrey and Andrew Bain.

Private services will be held at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home and burial will also take place privately at Pine Grove Cemetery, Westborough.
