Dorothea A. DonahueMarlborough – Dottie Ann Donahue of Marlborough, MA passed away on January 29, 2022, at the age of 79. She was born in Somerville, MA, the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (O’Brien) Struble.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard and her two sons, Craig Donahue and his wife Dale of Millbury, MA, and Todd Donahue and his dog, Koda, of Bartlett, NH and daughter, Cassandra Healey and her husband Brian of Scituate, MA and their four children, Shane, Liam, Anya, and Aisline. She also leaves her many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elaine Monroe of Somerville, MA, Arlene Martin of Lowell, MA, and her brother Walter of Buzzards Bay, MA.

A graduate of St. Clements High School in Medford and Chandler School for Women in Boston, she spent her summers at the Cape in Buzzards Bay until she met her husband and fell in love with the beautiful coast of Maine at York and Ogunquit.

Once the children were old enough, she started her career in Real Estate in the Marlborough area that lasted 20 years. She received her broker’s license and began her first job with Century 21 owned by Greg Mitrakas. She loved working with Greg, and over the years she met and became lifelong friends with Greg and many of her co-workers.

Among the many things that Dottie was good at was making friends. She talked to everybody, and they liked her. All the nurses at Marlboro Hospital knew Dottie from her many visits and loved her sense of humor and upbeat attitude. She was a talented knitter, (we have enough yarn to open a shop), her Scandinavian sweaters were her master pieces. Stained glass making was another of her crafts which included lamp shades, nativity sets and many other items that adorned the windows and shelves. She was also an idea person providing her Red Hatters Society with things to do and places to go. One such idea was her annual project to make Christmas baskets and hangings.

She was a giving person and volunteered as a Brownie troop leader, CD teacher, Birthright Volunteer, and AARP volunteer in the monthly money management and Fish programs. She chaired the Framingham Ostomy Association Chapter for many years. This involved giving advice and comfort to engaged couples with an Ostomy Situation.

She was a member of the former St Ann’s Church of Marlborough and St Bernadette Church of Northborough.

She loved traveling with her husband and family. Some of her favorite trips were with the Ski Club to the Alps, out west area’s and to Canada. On her first trip to Switzerland, she suffered an agony and defeat fall in a whiteout situation and from that time on her ski trips were without skis. She loved to shop and visit the restaurants in the quaint ski villages of Europe. Her favorite non-Ski trip was to Lake Como, Tuscan, and Portofino, Italy, with her close friend Marilyn Nasuti and her husband Bob. When the knees became a problem, her means of travel became cruising, with trips to Alaska, Rome, France, and Spain with her good friends Kay and Bob Cucchi.
