HUDSON – Hudson’s Farley Elementary School is in search of a new principal.

The job posting is currently active, and it is slated to close on Feb. 27. The school district’s human resources department hopes to have a group of well-qualified candidates to screen for interviews at that point.

“In the meantime, we are going to survey parents for the open position at Farley,” said Hudson Public Schools Superintendent Marco Rodrigues during a School Committee meeting last month.

Human resources plans to host a “small screening” of the candidates, to decide who receives an interview. Chosen candidates will face a “very diverse” panel for a round of interviews.

Depending on how many candidates the district sees, it hopes to then present three top finalists.

The survey period, which will take place alongside applications, will also invite parents to participate in the interview process, where they will be able to provide questions and feedback on the candidates.

The interviews for these potential top candidates will take place in a public forum, which Rodrigues said on Jan. 25 was slated to take place virtually.

“Typically, an interview like this is a day-long event,” he said. “So a person would have to have the capability to be with us for six to eight hours.”

Rodrigues said he anticipated having more details as the event, which is set to take place at some point in March, approaches.

Administrators will have an opportunity to interview top candidates, after which they will submit their recommendation for the next Farley principal.

“It’s always exciting, but at the same time a very difficult task,” Rodrigues said of the new principal search and selection process.

In addition to seeking a new principal, Hudson High School is also seeking a director of counseling.
