REGION – Local school districts and other facilities announced closures and delays ahead of today’s winter storm.
Forecasters say rain will quickly give way to freezing rain, sleet and snow on, contributing to treacherous conditions on roadways throughout much of the day.
Area communities could pick up as much as a quarter of an inch of ice according to a graphic shared by theNational Weather Service’s Boston Office.
“Please exercise caution if you plan on traveling today, as roads will be slick,” the NWS wrote early this morning.

TRASH AND RECYCLING COLLECTIONS for Friday will now take place on Saturday. The Department of Public Works asks that community members have items on the curb by 7 a.m. on Saturday for pickup.
TOWN BUILDINGS will be closed to the public. This includes Town Hall, the Shrewsbury Public Library and the Council on Aging. Town staff will be working remotely.
