WESTBOROUGH – The Westborough Rangers varsity softball team will welcome new head coach Casey Sheehan for this year’s spring season.
Athletic Director Johanna DiCarlo announced this news through Twitter late last month, celebrating Sheehan’s new role.
“Westborough High School is thrilled to announce the hiring of Casey Sheehan as Varsity Softball Head Coach,” DiCarlo wrote.
Sheehan has always had a passion for athletics, enjoying an early introduction to sports.
“Growing up, I was throwing a ball around as soon as I could walk,” she told the Community Advocate last week.
Her start in softball was somewhat delayed, however, as she first began learning the sport while playing baseball when she was 13-years old.
Sheehan went on to play volleyball, basketball and softball at Medway High School.
After graduating, she began her studies in psychology and neuroscience at Emmanuel College, where she played both varsity volleyball and softball until her graduation in 2019.
In 2021, Sheehan graduated with her master’s degree in mental health counseling from Suffolk University. She served there as a graduate assistant coach for the women’s volleyball team.
Sheehan has also coached volleyball at Saint Joseph Prep.
“I got to the campus and I had a good feeling, I was so welcomed,” she said of her introduction to Westborough.
Sheehan is looking forward to her first season with the Rangers in the spring.
The local sports community, meanwhile, is happy to have her.
“The Westborough Athletics community welcomes Coach Sheehan to the Ranger Family,” DiCarlo wrote.
