SHREWSBURY – The Friends of the Shrewsbury Senior Center hosted a Valentine’s themed bingo for resident seniors on Monday.

Dozens of seniors were in attendance, donning red and white clothes to celebrate the holiday.

The Senior Center, decorated with red tinsel, tablecloths and table ornaments, still held a Christmas tree which was now decorated with pink and red hearts.

The Friends of the Shrewsbury Senior Center welcomed Selectman Beth Casavant to officiate the game.

Players played multiple forms of bingo, including single bingo and layer cake – a variation of bingo requiring players to fill three alternating horizontal lines on their card.

Seniors received single-use bingo cards for each round, marking their numbers with highlighters provided by the event’s organizers. Seniors were able to purchase additional cards for $1 each.

Dozens of prizes were provided to winners, including festive gift bags, flowers, mugs and candies. A raffle was also held for three copies of “Cooking for Two or More.”
