High school scoreboard: Playoffs get underway as winter sports season continues

REGION – The playoffs are here.

Winter sports teams are presently moving through their respective Central Massachusetts tournaments before many will take on larger state tournament brackets in the coming weeks.

These final days of the regular season and the opening rounds of recent playoff action have, indeed, already featured fireworks.

The Algonquin boys hockey team fell to Groton-Dunstable by a narrow margin in a game dedicated to Northborough’s Brian Arsenault. 

Arsenault played hockey for Algonquin before serving with the Army in Afghanistan. He was killed in action in 2014.
