MARLBOROUGH – Substitutes in the Marlborough Public Schools will now make more money following a unanimous vote by the School Committee last week.
The increase in rates is effective immediately.
Substitute teachers will specifically get $110 per day, up from $85. With a valid Massachusetts teaching license, those substitutes can expect to make $120 per day.
Nurse substitutes will get $175, up from their previous rate of $150.
Active substitutes working between 30 and 90 days will get a daily rate of $180, while the district will pay substitutes working more than 90 consecutive days $190 per day.
Paraeducators can expect an additional $5 per day following this change, with substitutes set to receive $85.
Cafeteria substitutes will now make $17 per hour. Clerical substitutes will make $18 to $20 per hour based on their qualifications.
These new rates are intended to make the Marlborough Public Schools more competitive among other districts, school officials said during the committee’s Feb. 8 meeting.
