UPDATE: This article has been updated with information from a new statement shared by the National Weather Service around 4 p.m.

REGION – Forecasters say high winds will likely whip through area communities overnight and into tomorrow morning in connection with a rainstorm set to roll through the region.

This has prompted a high wind warning for areas including Westborough, Shrewsbury, Northborough, Southborough and Grafton.

While exempt from the warning, Hudson and Marlborough are both encompassed by a wind advisory.

“Plan ahead!” the National Weather Service’s Boston office wrote in a post to social media earlier this week.

Warnings and advisories are set to take effect at 11p.m. tonight.

Wind and rain will roll in overnight, forecasters say, with impacts peaking between 2 and 8 a.m. tomorrow.

The NWS added in a new message just after 4 p.m. this afternoon that brief but heavy rain may also prompt “typical nuisance street flooding” in the morning.

Gusts could range up to 60 miles-per-hour, prompting a risk for power outages.

This ugly weather will come after record setting warmth across the region this afternoon.
