REGION – Marlborough boys hockey star Marcus Chrisafideis scored his 100th career point on Saturday in what was a 5-2 victory over Algonquin.

The win came in the semifinals of the Central Massachusetts tournament, putting the Panthers a step closer to another major tournament win in a continually dominant season.

Now 17-0-1, the Panthers have benefitted frequently from scoring by Chrisafideis, among others.

Saturday’s game continued that trend, with the senior snagging his milestone point on a goal just a few minutes into the first period.

Mark Evangelous then followed just a few minutes later to open a 2-0 lead.

Though Algonquin found ways to score as the game went on, Marlborough matched the pace to lock down the win.

This marks the fourth time Marlborough has beat its area rivals this season, following tournament victories in the Boroughs Cup and the Daily News Cup back in December.

The Panthers then nabbed a 3-2 win over Algonquin on Feb. 2 before this matchup.

As Marlborough remains undefeated, Algonquin’s record drops to 11-7.
