HUDSON – State Rep. Kate Hogan honored longtime Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO and President Sarah Cressy last week with a citation and a lunch at the Horseshoe Pub in Hudson.

The event marked the 35th anniversary of Cressy becoming the Chamber’s CEO/President.

“Congrats and thanks for all you do for so many, Sarah!” Hogan wrote in a message on social media.

Cressy connected with the then Hudson Community Development Corporation (CDC) in 1986, working with federal and state funding to support Hudson’s downtown area.

“Cressy quickly incorporated a downtown business association, but soon realized that a broader coalition of business and community leaders was needed to insure the health of the business community,” the Chamber notes on its website.

Cressy morphed the Hudson CDC into a Chamber of Commerce in 1987, then merging with the Maynard Chamber of Commerce in 1992 to create the Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Thirty years later, and 35 years after the founding of the Hudson Chamber of Commerce, the Assabet Valley Chamber now represents close to 300 businesses in Berlin, Bolton, Hudson, Maynard Stow and elsewhere.
