High school scoreboard: Tournament play continues as winter postseason heats up

REGION – The winter sports season rumbled onward last week, with several high stakes tournament matchups across the region.

From tournament victories, including a Mid-Wach Class B championship for the Hudson High School girls basketball team, to personal milestones, it’s been a jam packed series of days in local high school sports.

Grafton celebrated its seniors on a night that it dominated Oxford. Ethan McInerny dropped 20 Points while teammate Kevin Rauktis notched a career-high 19 points. The team improved its win-loss record to 13-6 with this win.

The Hawks upset top-ranked Lunenburg to win the Mid-Wach Class B championship. The team nabbed this win, in part, by roaring out of the gate to take a 27-7 lead at halftime. Though Lunenburg rallied, the Hawks held on to take the victory.

Hudson started strong against Grafton on Monday, taking a 20 point lead at one point in the first half. The Gators narrowed the deficit to just three points by halftime. Hudson then held on though, securing a win against a Grafton squad that had beat them twice prior this winter.

The co-op Shrewsbury/Westborough girls hockey team got back in the win-column last week, snapping a two-game losing streak. Their six-goal margin of victory tied a Jan. 15, 8-2 defeat of Westford Academy as their widest such margin of victory yet this winter.
