Region mourns Grafton man killed in crash
James Koshivos

GRAFTON – A GoFundMe campaign had raised more than $19,000 in memory of Grafton’s James Koshivos as of Wednesday morning.

Several donors had additionally shared memories and reflections just a matter of days after Koshivos, 21, died in a car crash at Menauhant Beach in Falmouth.

“James was a loving, friendly, and genuine man who has made an impact on the lives of so many,” a description attached to the GoFundMe page said.

“James was always there for you no matter what time of day or what problem you were facing,” added Ryan Simpson, who was one of the donors. “He was selfless, genuine, and real.”

‘As good a guy as they make them’

Koshivos graduated from St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury and had been studying International Business at Bryant University, his obituary noted.

He was poised to graduate in May.

Koshivos was also a brother in the Sigma Chi fraternity at Bryant, working to raise money through a number of philanthropic events.

“James was as good a guy as they make them,” the GoFundMe note continued. “He had a giving personality and would never shy away from lending a helping hand.”

Donations support Memorial Scholarship Fund

Koshivos was involved in a fatal car accident on Saturday night, with his car crashing into an embankment before passing over Menauhant Beach and landing upside-down in about five feet of water.

First responders were on scene on Sunday morning.

Koshivos was then publicly identified as the victim in this accident the following day.

The ongoing GoFundMe fundraiser will contribute to the James A. Koshivos Memorial Scholarship Fund.

This will aim to “carry on the legacy that James left,” the GoFundMe description noted.

The fundraiser had specifically brought in $19,163 as of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
