Marlborough family announces scholarshipsMARLBOROUGH – Marlborough’s Iannini family has designated $50,000 in total scholarship funding to be given to deserving Marlborough seniors this academic year.

George and David Iannini previously set up scholarships with their mother, Carmela Iannini, to be given in memory of Americo Iannini, Carmela’s husband and their father.

These scholarships were given to Marlborough High School seniors until 2009.

Recently, the family hosted another scholarship in memory of Dr. Mark Iannini, the brother of George and David. This scholarship began in 2012 and was retired in 2021.

The family has now announced a $25,000 annual scholarship to be presented to a Marlborough High School senior seeking advanced education.

Students will be evaluated for their academic record, athletic achievements and charitable work.

Students are required to submit a curriculum vitae, transcript and a 500-word essay detailing why the committee should choose their application by March 31. Applications will be sent to the Iannini brothers who will select a winner.

An additional five scholarships totalling $5,000 each will be awarded on five different criteria. Those include awards for a student continuing science and math education, a student who shows performance in leadership and persistence, and an award for a student who is a leader in community spirit.

One scholarship will be awarded to a “top female student” studying business, medicine or education, while another will be awarded to a student attending Boston College.

“The Iannini family has given generous support throughout the years in appreciation of the education they received throughout the Marlborough school system, expressing their fond memories of being raised here and attribute the success in their personal endeavors towards this along with their ability to further continue their education,” a press release announcing all this recently noted.

Applicants for the Iannini family scholarships should submit their completed applications to George Iannini at [email protected].
