WESTBOROUGH – A two-alarm fire displaced a dozen Westborough residents and caused roughly $500,000 in damage on Sunday night, drawing fire crews into the Westborough rotary just after 6 p.m.

The blaze broke out in the historic Arcade Building at 5 West Main Street. Though no one required transportation to the hospital, three civilians were hurt, according to the Fire Department.

Firefighters initially arrived on scene to find fire on the second and third floor of the building.

Residents were in the process of evacuating as those firefighters began their fire attack, the Fire Department said.

Firefighters struck a second alarm “due to the size of the building and the volume of residential units.”

Though crews contained damage to two apartments, twelve residents were still displaced.

Their property management company was working with the Red Cross to find new accommodations as of Monday morning.

The Arcade Building is a fixture of downtown Westborough, dating back to 1890.

In addition to its 14 residential rooms, the building houses a number of businesses on its first floor.

Firefighters did not know the cause of this fire as of Monday morning.

Crews from Southborough, Northborough, Hopkinton, Grafton and Worcester did provide aid on scene on Sunday night while the Upton Fire Department provided station coverage.
