WESTBOROUGH – The second year of the Night in the Cold fundraiser in Westborough had pulled in over $16,000 as of Monday afternoon. And donations were still rolling in, according to organizer and Westborough resident John Bogaert.

Bogaert and a group of volunteers spent all day on Feb. 26 in the parking lot at 45 Colonial Plaza on East Main Street in Westborough. They then spent the night in the parking lot as well as part of this fundraiser.

The group has collected donations through a variety of means during their event and in the days around it, all raising money and awareness for people experiencing homelessness.

“When you are out there in the wet and the cold for twenty-four hours…you cannot help but to feel extremely saddened to think that this is someone’s everyday existence,” Bogaert told the Community Advocate earlier this year.

This was the second year of the fundraiser, which specifically collects donations for the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homelessness.

Altogether, this effort in Westborough has now raised over $48,000 across its two years, Bogaert said.
