NORTHBOROUGH – Tickets are now on sale for a planned game between the Harlem Wizards and a team of staff from the Northborough schools and the community on April 8.

The game will serve as a community fundraising event.

The Wizards are a “show basketball entity,” using their talents to perform and support fundraising efforts nationwide.

Representatives of the Peaslee Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization presented plans for this event to the Northborough School Committee back in January. At the time, though, uncertainty remained about whether COVID-19 restrictions would allow this to move forward.

“It’s more of a fun family night — not so much about basketball, but more about tricks and laughs,” Erin Tagliaferri told the School Committee on Jan. 5. “It was a really good time the last time we did it. So…fingers crossed that we are in a good place where we can safely have the event.”

Now, organizers have their date set.

The Peaslee Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has organized this effort in conjunction with PTOs from other Northborough K-8 schools. The game will be held at Algonquin Regional High School.

The goal is to raise $5,000.

This game is, in turn, part of a larger effort to raise $13,800 this school year.

Doors open on April 8 at 6 p.m.
