HUDSON – Not much is slowing the Hudson girls basketball team down these days.
That trend continued on Friday night as the team defeated Belchertown in the opening round of its Division III MIAA state tournament bracket.
Things stayed close early on, with the teams concluding the first quarter of this game tied at 12-12. Hudson built an eight point lead in the second quarter, though, pulling into halftime ahead 25-17.
They continued pushing on their way to an eventual 56-35 win.
Seven of twelve Hawks players scored in this game, with four players cracking double digits on the scoresheet.
Madison Kiley led the way on that front with a 16-point day.
Gracie Giorgio followed with 11 points, while Sam Colette and Audrey Lenox each tacked on 10 points.
The 11th-ranked Hawks now move into the Round of 16, where they will take on sixth-ranked Bishop Fenwick for the chance to continue their season.
The date and time of that game had not been announced as of Saturday morning.
