NORTHBOROUGH – The Algonquin Regional High School Parent Teacher Organization (APTO) wants to give students the typical high school experience they missed out on.

So, the APTO is fundraising for two post-prom parties for the classes of 2022 and 2023.

Typically, Algonquin High School holds a junior prom sponsored by student ticket purchases, while the APTO sponsors a post-prom experience that provides a “free, safe place for the students to go after the prom and celebrate the rest of the evening,” according to a Feb. 25 press release.

Algonquin High School, which canceled its junior prom events for both 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is now hosting both a junior and senior class prom for its students this year 2022.

APTO estimates that its 2019 post-prom event cost approximately $16,000.

With the organization now sponsoring two parties, it is looking to fundraise $32,000 to offset the cost of the events.
