Robert G. HimmelmanUpton/Northborough – On Monday evening, March 7, 2022, Robert G. Himmelman passed away after suffering a sudden cardiac event while visiting friends on Cape Cod. With his passing a large void that will never be filled was created in the hearts of his family and many friends.

Rob, who was affectionately known as “Himmo”, was larger than life – both in stature and in personality. He looked forward to being surrounded by those he loved and in turn, people enjoyed having Rob nearby.

Rob was born in Framingham on March 17, 1971 and spent his childhood in Northborough. He attended Algonquin Regional High School and was looking forward to celebrating his 51st birthday in a week. Rob was an excellent athlete with a gift for softball. He played many seasons with local teams including Thermco Travel Team , the Hudson VFW and at the Ashland Fish and Game; all while making the most of the game itself and the comradery it offered. He also looked forward to spending time playing a few rounds of Golf with his friends. While enjoying all sports, Rob was a true New England Team supporter and kept up on recent NASCAR events.

Rob enjoyed experiencing life and the challenges it held. Taking trips and vacations were a favorite of his, notably his excursions to Iceland and Hawaii. Above all, time with family and friends was the highlight of Rob’s day. For over ten years Rob worked within Kimball Sand and Gravel of Bellingham; first as a truck driver, then in sales and recently, as a dispatcher. He valued his coworkers as family and looked forward to going to work each day.

Surviving Rob are his parents, William and Karen Himmelman of Hudson; a brother, Brian Himmelman and his wife Jessica of Northborough and their children Madison and Brady Himmelman. Rob also leaves two aunts, Penny El-Bisi of Marlborough and Martha Nelson of Amherst and numerous cousins. Rob was preceded in death by his beloved Yellow Lab, Quint.

A time of visitation with Rob’s family will take place at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, on Saturday, March 19, between the hours of 12 Noon and 2 pm.

Knowing his love and affection for Quint, Rob’s family respectfully request memorial donations in his name be directed to the New England Lab Rescue, New England Lab Rescue, PO Box 58, Limerick, Maine 04048 (www.newEnglandlabrescue.com) or another animal based rescue of your choice.
