NORTHBOROUGH – Nearly every race in Northborough annual town election on May 10 is now contested.

This is according to Town Clerk filings that were updated after the deadline to return papers passed yesterday.

There is one seat on the Board of Selectmen up for election this year, with incumbent Leslie Rutan set to face off against Mitchell Cohen and Thomas Dalton, who both returned papers.

There will be a new face on the Planning Board after current member Michelle Gillespie did not pull papers to run for re-election.

Two residents — Jon Lien and William Pierce — have secured a spot on the ballot to run for her seat.

A new face will also join the Northborough School Committee to fill the seat of Keith Lebel, who opted to not run for re-election. Voters will choose between Gigi Lisa Howell and Bryce Adam MacKnight.

There will also be a contested race for the Regional School Committee, where incumbent Joan Frank and William Barlow Redfern II have both returned papers to be Northborough’s representative on the committee.

In other races, Danielle Culgin Goodwin is running unopposed to be the Southborough candidate for the Regional School Committee.

Frederick George is also running unopposed to be re-elected as Northborough’s town moderator.

Northborough’s annual election is May 10. All voting will take place at Melican Middle School.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
