Lucinda MeloHudson – Lucinda Melo, 86, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of declining health. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 66 years, Manuel.

Lucinda was born in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal on August 18, 1935. Daughter of the late António Augusto de Chaves and Maria Anunciação (Borges) Chaves.

She married the love of her life on December 14, 1955. and began raising a family shortly after. Together with her husband and four children, she immigrated to Hudson from Portugal in August of 1967.

A devout Catholic, she was a member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson. Lucinda was a dedicated wife and mother and loved spending time with her family. She was also employed at Thomas Taylor and later Data General until her retirement.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Carmelia Nogueira and her husband Miguel, Manuela  Freitas, Odelta Carvalho and her husband Antonio. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren; Alise, Elizabeth, Michael, David, Alexis, Jared and 5 great grandchildren; AnaSofia, Mason, Wesley, Levi and Carolina. She is also survived by her sisters Rosa Chaves, Felicidade Leandres, Helena Braga and Zenalia Bairos. She is predeceased by her son, Mario Melo, her brother, José Chaves and her sisters, Maria Chaves and Filomena Loura.

Family and friends are invited for a period of visitation on Sunday March 20, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street in Hudson. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 9:00 am at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning Street, Hudson, followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery on Cox Street in Hudson.
