SHREWSBURY – Races for the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen and School Committee will be contested when voters head to the polls this spring, the Town Clerk confirmed on Friday.

The Clerk released Shrewsbury’s draft ballot three days after the deadline passed for candidates to return papers to get their names on the ballot.

This comes after School Committee member Dale Magee and Selectman John Lebeaux announced earlier this year that they did not intend to seek re-election, meaning there will be new faces on each of those boards.

Three people are vying for two open seats on the Board of Selectmen.

Those include John Samia, who is currently the chair of the board, and residents Michelle Conlin and Rajesh Uppalapati.

On the School Committee, four residents are running for two open seats. Incumbent Lynsey Heffernan is seeking re-election to the committee as Erin Boucher, Jennifer Luke and Sanam Zaer have also returned papers.

In other races, Richard Ricker is seeking re-election to the Shrewsbury Housing Authority. Ricker is unopposed.

There are also three open seats on the Board of Library Trustees.

Jeffrey Billingham and Nancy Gilbert are running for re-election while Noor Ali has pulled papers to also run for the board.

Shrewsbury’s annual town election is May 3. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
