Shrewsbury Rotary Club to host Earth Day community recycling fundraiser

Rotary Club International logo. SHREWSBURY – The Shrewsbury Rotary Club will host an Earth Day community recycling fundraiser on Sunday, April 24, from noon to 3 p.m. at Shrewsbury Town Hall.

A carload of people will be able to recycle items off a long list including phones, printers, laptops, bicycles and more for $40. 

Additional charges will apply to the following items:

    • TVs – $45
    • Powered yard equipment with all fluids drained – $25
    • CRT monitors/flat screen monitors – $25
    • Computer or stereo speakers $20 for set of two
    • Car seats – $20
    • Appliances with freon, including full-sized refrigerator and full-sized freezers – $25 
    • Small AC units, dorm fridges, and dehumidifiers – $15.

Items that will not be accepted include wood, bulk paper, light bulbs of any kind, fluids of any kind, styrofoam, garden hoses, upholstered furniture, mattresses, ceramics, bricks, stones, glass, board games, and plastics of any kind.

Funds raised will go back to the community through service projects, such as school scholarship and veterans gift card programs. 

The Rotary Club will also make contributions to the Worcester County Food Bank.

The Rotary Club has been holding these recycling events for more than 10 years, expanding operations to now also run additional recycling events in the fall.
