Westborough Cultural Council awards $14,000 in local grants


WESTBOROUGH – The Westborough Cultural Council recently announced recipients of more than $14,000 in grants for local events and projects this year. 

Recipients include:

    • Westborough Connects – Kindness Week 2022
    • Assabet Valley Mastersingers – Concert Series 2022
    • John Porcino – To Life!: Celebrations in Story, Song & Music
    • Dot Mandala Workshop at the Westborough Public Library
    • Shir Joy Chorus – Singing Through the Pandemic
    • Balloon and Cube Art Installation in Westborough
    • Steven Hurlbut – Jumpin’ Juba Concert at Westborough Public Library
    • “Martha Washington” at the Westborough Historical Society
    • Gregory Maichak – Jellyfish: How to Pastel Paint
    • John Root – Edible Wild Plants Walk
    • Chamber Music MetroWest – “The Three Little Pigs”
    • Matt York – “The Highwayman: Songs and Stories” at Westborough Public Library
    • Nourse Farm Heritage Day: Celebrating 300 Years of Farming in Westborough
    • Bernadette Stockwell – “Do Your Art!”
    • Henry Lappen – Henry the Juggler Performance at Arts in Common 2022
    • Women of Note – Barbershop Chorus
    • Francis Hart – Cultural and Historical Reflection of the 1960s through the music of The Beatles
    • Westborough Community Chorus – Spring Concert at Gibbons Middle School
    • Westborough Recreation – Summer Concert Series at Bay State Common
    • Westborough Community Land Trust – “Snakes of New England and the World” 

Funding for these grants comes from the state through the MA Cultural Council, from Westborough through a regular Town Meeting appropriation, and from the Westborough Cultural Council’s own fundraising at the Arts in Common community art festival. 

That free event featuring local artists, musicians and performers will be held for the 12th time this year on Saturday, Oct. 1 on Bay State Green.
