MRCC to hold annual awards celebrationMARLBOROUGH – The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce will kick off its celebration of its 98th anniversary later this month when it bestows its Annual Business Awards on Friday, April 29.

“Heroes Among Us” will start at 5pm at the Portuguese Club in Hudson. It will feature special guest appearances along with a celebration of award nominees and winners and member anniversaries.

“The nominees this year will include not only Chamber members but also healthcare community recipients who have special significance due to the impact of the pandemic on the business community,” MRCC President and CEO Robert Schlacter said in a press release. “We will honor all nominees and winners of these prestigious awards, along with member anniversaries and invited community guests.” 

This year’s nominees for the business awards are:

    • Business of the Year: Collings Foundation/American Heritage Museum, Hologic, Main Street Bank, St. Mary’s Credit Union and Cytiva.
    • Small Business of the Year: Chill Kitchen and Bar, Dairy Queen, Bowditch & Dewey, New Horizons at Marlborough and Al Brodeur’s Auto Body.
    • Business Person of the Year: Richard Tomanek (Embassy by Hilton), David and Darlene Welch (Minuteman Press), David Kennedy (Kennedy’s Restaurant & Market), Chris Duane (Boys & Girls Club of MetroWest) and Tom Woelper (New England Innovation Academy).
    • Entrepreneur of the Year: Lisa Manning/Bill Blaisdell (Knotty Pine Design and Consignment), Daphne Phalon (Ardent Staffing), Michelle Grasso (Synergy Wellness), Patricia Murray (Dancing Orchid Soapworks) and Adam Krasinski (Tackle Box Brewing Company LLC).
    • Ann Scott Community Service Award: Stephen Dembro (Stevie’s Café), Elaine McDonald (Marlborough Rotary Club), Jay and Heather Johnston (Kits for Kids), Cheryl Juaire (Team Sharing) and Mark Vital (AMSA Charter School).

Tickets for the event are $55 per person and include a “Taste of the Chamber” experience featuring signature dishes from MRCC restaurants.
