HUDSON – A number of cars were found keyed in the main parking lot outside Hudson High School last week, prompting a police investigation.

That process was ongoing as of Wednesday morning, according to Police Chief Richard DiPersio.

Police were initially dispatched to the high school just after 1 p.m. on April 7, according to a police report.

That followed word of multiple vandalized vehicles in the school’s parking lot, which is used by HHS seniors, staff and visitors.

Officer John Donovan wrote in a narrative attached to the police report that he spoke to several seniors who had been victimized, noting that seniors then showed him their damaged cars.

“The [motor vehicles] were all keyed in different areas which included the front and rear quarter panels, hood [and] doors,” Donavan wrote.

One vehicle had its front grille keyed.

Donavan wrote that seniors told him that their class “has really had no issues with any members of the class,” adding that they “couldn’t think of anyone that would want to damage their [motor vehicles].”

Donavan wrote that he checked the area for video cameras but saw that there were none.

Police filings on April 7 noted 10 vehicles that had been damaged.

Contacted on Wednesday, though, DiPersio told the Community Advocate that there have been “numerous” other reports of damaged vehicles in recent days.

“We are now trying to determine which, if any, are a result of this incident,” he said.

Police are working with school officials in that effort, according to DiPersio.
