SHREWSBURY – A Worcester woman is facing charges including trafficking heroin and reckless endangerment of a child following a traffic stop in Shrewsbury early Tuesday morning.

The Shrewsbury Police Department said in a press release that officers pulled over a vehicle at 12:45 a.m. for reportedly having defective equipment and failing to have the vehicle inspected.

According to police, the driver, Kerdinand Percy Fuentes, 30, of Worcester, told officers that he did not have a license. Police reported that the registered owner of the vehicle Christina Cruz-Rios, 38, of Worcester, was “unconscious” in the back of the vehicle.

While talking with the people in the vehicle, officers said they observed “numerous” items of drug paraphernalia. They said saw third passenger allegedly place a crack pipe under a seat.

Officers reportedly found 81 grams of what they suspect was heroin as well as two large crystalline rocks believed to be crack cocaine. Police allegedly found what they believe to be powder cocaine in Cruz-Rios’ possession.

Cruz-Rios and Fuentes were arrested.

Cruz-Rios faces charges of trafficking heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of crack cocaine and reckless endangerment of a child.

Fuentes was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, subsequent offense.
