Gloria B. LundyShrewsbury – We are heartbroken to announce that Gloria Bernadette (Girard) Lundy passed peacefully on April 23, 2022 just a couple of weeks shy of her 93rd Birthday. Gloria was born in Sanford, Maine to Adelia (LaLiberte) and Hormidas Girard on May 20, 1929 (the year of the crash).

She was the 13th child (The 13th Wonder) in a family of 15 children. She was the Queen of “One and Done” and “F-U-N” and she played a killer kazoo!

She spent her childhood in the Main South and Grafton Hill areas of Worcester, later moving the Shrewsbury, MA and Dennis, MA.

She met the love of her life, William F. Lundy “Bill” at a Johnny Hynes dance. They were married in June 1951 and had a wonderful life together until Bill’s passing in 1994. Together they raised 6 children, traveled extensively, hosted many memorable parties, and walked the beaches from Maine to Florida.

She is survived by her loving children, Patricia Keith and her husband Randy, Michael Lundy, Kathleen James and her late husband George, Maureen Corron and her husband Steve, Christine Wilkinson and her husband Scott, and Kevin Lundy and his wife Janice. and her 10 grandchildren, Nate (Michelle), Brooke (Mike), Matt (Clairetta), Julie (Bryan), Mike (Hannah), Lynne (Rory), Kelsey (Nick), Molly (Evan), Shannon and Billy, and her 10 great-grandchildren, Sullivan, Iris, Milo, Vincent, Sophie, Francesca, Seamus, Maeve, Isla, and Sloane. She also leaves her sisters-in-laws, Catherine (Lundy) Scalley and Mary (Fallon) Girard along with many nieces and nephews and too many friends to even count.

Her brothers, Raymond, Joseph, Donald, Ernest, Valmore and Lionel Girard, and sisters, Beatrice LeBoeuf, Lucille Letourneau, Gertrude Girard, Therese Gusha, Doris McManus, Marie Paule Lavin, Julie Lamontagne and Lillian Girard all predeceased her.

Her incredible sense of humor and zest for life made everyone who knew her smile and enjoy being with her, she was the life of every party. Her best times were spent with her family and friends. Her life was a gift to all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at Chiampa Funeral Home – On the Common – 5 Church Road, Shrewsbury, on Wednesday, April 27th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury on Thursday, April 28th at 11:00 AM. Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to church. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria’s name made be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606 would be appreciated.
