SHREWSBURY – The Assabet Valley Mastersingers are gearing up for their third concert of their current season next month.

The chorus, which draws members from Shrewsbury, Westborough, Northborough, Southborough, and Marlborough, will perform “The Seasons” by Franz Joseph Haydn.

Completed in 1801, this was Haydn’s last major composition.

“It is highly regarded to be his most mature, carefully crafted, and musical,” the Mastersingers noted in a press release.

“No musical knowledge is necessary to delight in the simple folk song melodies and vivid orchestral tone-painting,” they added.

Mastersingers Founder and Artistic Director Robert P. Eaton will conduct soloist Mary Johnston Letellier, Gregory Zavracky and Baritone John Salvi along with orchestra and ensemble performers.

The show, itself, will run on May 22 at 3:30 p.m. in the Robert Jay Performing Center at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury.

Tickets may be purchased from www.AVMsingers.org or at the venue on the afternoon of the concert. The price is $25.00 and $20.00 for seniors and students.

All public health guidelines provided by Federal, state, and local health departments and those of individual concert venues will be followed.  As such, guests are advised to check the Mastersingers’ website for the most up to date information.
