High school scoreboard: Early power rankings bring good news for area teams

548

REGION – The release of the MIAA’s first round of spring power rankings brought good news for a number of area teams this past week, with several programs ranking within the top 10 spots in their respective divisions.

AMSA baseball topped the charts, claiming the number one spot in Division IV.

Shrewsbury baseball and AMSA softball ranked similarly well, both taking third place rankings in Division I and Division III respectively.

Full rankings are now available for all area high school baseball, softball and volleyball and boys and girls lacrosse teams through the MIAA’s website.

While these power rankings will change, high rankings represent good news for teams, as power rankings will decide playoff seeding under the state’s new playoff formats.

With power rankings punctuating the end of the week, teams continued to roll through their spring schedules last week.
