SOUTHBOROUGH – Condolences have continued to pour in for the family of Lisa Thompson, 38, a Southborough firefighter who passed away suddenly late last week.
Thompson leaves behind her husband Craig, a Millis police officer and Air Force veteran, as well as two sons, Dylan and Bentley.
A Medway resident, Thompson was promoted to the role of full-time firefighter in Southborough in November of last year, rising to that position after serving as a call member in the Medway and Sherborn Fire Departments.
“She demonstrated a sincere commitment to her fellow firefighters, the department, and to those we serve,” the Southborough Fire Department wrote in a statement announcing her passing.
“Also as a mother, she cherished raising her sons and enjoyed being a proud fan at Dylan’s sporting events,” Thompson’s obituary added.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched over the weekend to support Thompson’s husband and children. That fundraiser had raised more than $30,000 as of Tuesday afternoon.
“This loving wife and mother leaves behind a devastated family that is left to pick up the pieces of an unspeakable tragedy,” the fundraiser description reads, in part.
“Craig and Lisa have devoted their lives to serving others, their joint commitment to public safety along with Craig’s military service is unmatched,” it continues.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday in Medway prior to Thompson’s funeral on Friday, according to her obituary.

Thompson’s family has separately asked in her obituary that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to support the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The obituary noted that memorial gifts can be made online at www.bwhgiving.org or through checks can be made payable to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with “in memory of Lisa Thompson” in the memo line. Checks should be sent to: Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Development Office, 116 Huntington Ave., 3rd floor, Boston, MA 02116.
