Gerald F. MoynihanBrewster – Gerald F. Moynihan 81, of Brewster, passed away Wednesday May 5th 2022, with his wife and youngest daughter by his side, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Gerry was born in Worcester in 1940, to Jeremiah & Rita (Baersch) Moynihan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Martha (McCullough) Moynihan. They married in 1980, making their home in Shrewsbury, MA. Their story was one for the books. Their love and dedication for one another, stood the test of time, and was a great inspiration to friends and family. He is also survived by his children, Timothy Moynihan and wife Caroline, Erin Watkins and husband Lance, and Caitlin Greenwood and husband Brandon. His grandchildren Owen & Evan Watkins and Emilia & Daniel Greenwood.

Gerry graduated from St. Peter’s High School, Worcester State College with a BA & MA, Tulane University with a second MA, and Assumption College with a second BA. He taught math at West Boylston High School for 32 years. Retiring to pursue a second career at Fidelity Investments in Marlboro. He retired again after 9 years.

After he and Martha settled on Cape Cod, he was able to further his desire to help others by volunteering with LCOC, Habitat for Humanity, Alzheimer’s Family Support Center, and multiple other organizations. He had many talents that he shared with friends and family, including his woodworking, cooking, and his photography (Viewfinders member). If you ever needed to find him in the early mornings, he could be found on the Captain’s golf course. He loved his friends “the dewsweepers”.

He is predeceased by his first love, his wife Maureen (McCarthy) Moynihan and their daughter Jennifer. Also, his sister Alice Coolidge.

Gerry was a humble quiet observer and good listener. He was a was a faith filled and caring man.

Visiting hours will be held at Chapman Funerals & Cremations Blute Chapel, 678 Main St. Harwich Center, on Thursday, May 12, from 4-7pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Church in Orleans, on Friday, May 13 at 10am.
