Doc was born in Grafton July 23, 1929, son of the late Eveline (Crouse) and Israel Atchue. Doc grew up in Grafton and was a life-long resident in town. From a young age the farm life was the one he loved; he always had his hands in the dirt tending to his garden, he had animals of all sorts that were part of his daily life and they brought him joy. His first paying job was at The Hat Shop in Upton, same as his older brothers. He served proudly in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean conflict. Doc then worked as a Wheel Inspector for 33 years at BayState Abrasives in Westborough.

Away from work Doc treasured time with his wife Alice and his family. He coached farm league baseball years earlier, was Scout Leader of Troop 107 and he and his wife Alice would take trips to Nova Scotia Canada where they would visit family.

All are welcome to gather with Doc’s family and friends Thursday May 19th from 9am-10:30am at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by the celebration of his Funeral Mass at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church 17 Waterville St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. He will then be laid to rest with military honors at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Grafton.
