Russell L. EatonAuburn/Shrewsbury – Russell L. Eaton, 90, of Auburn and Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Worcester to Harry O. and Winifred M. (Fleming) Eaton, he graduated from Shrewsbury High School and Clark University. Russell lived most of his life in his family home in Shrewsbury before moving to an assisted living in Auburn several years ago.

Russell served in the Air Force, and was stationed at an airbase in northern Canada during the Korean Conflict, as well as Westover. He worked for Worcester Five Cents Savings Bank (later Consumers Savings Bank), both before and after his stint in the Air Force, then with several other successor banks (through mergers), finally retiring from Bank of America. He was in the mortgage department for many years before becoming the Branch Manager of the Shrewsbury office of Worcester Five Cents Savings / Consumers Savings again for many years.

Russell loved to travel, taking many trips to Europe with his best friend Norm Hall (who predeceased him). They traveled to Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and Russia. In addition, he traveled to Egypt and Kenya in Africa, Peru & Bolivia in South America, East and West coasts of Canada, and to China. In his spare time, he was an avid woodworker building a high boy, a low boy, as well as tables and clocks. He also enjoyed brewing beer having been a member of a local brew club for many years.

Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022 in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
