Fire damages apartment in Marlborough

MARLBOROUGH – No one was injured, but two people were displaced when a fire broke out in an apartment in Marlborough early Friday morning.

The Marlborough Fire Department battled the blaze at the Avana Apartments on Applebriar Lane.

The fire was reported at 7:58 a.m., during a shift change between Battalions 1 and 4.

Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Rescue 1 and Tower 1 responded to fire, along with the Shift Commander and Assistant Chief Jeff Gogan. Patriot EMS had a unit on scene as a precaution.

Engine 2, the first due engine company reported that the fire started in the kitchen area of the affected unit. The fire was quickly knocked down and firefighters checked the area for any possible fire extension.

The all out was declared at 10:37 a.m.

The fire remained under investigation as of Friday. Damage estimates were not available as of publication.
