Helen L. YoungdahlNorthborough – Helen L. Youngdahl, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in Marlborough Hospital on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. She was 98 years old and the devoted wife of 76 years to Ernest H. Youngdahl until his own passing in 2019.

Born and raised North Attleboro, Mass, Helen was one of two daughters to Ernest H. and Jeanine (Fontaine) McNeil. She was a 1942 graduate of North Attleboro H.S. and for numerous years worked as a bank teller with the former Mechanics National Bank. Helen was a longtime active member of Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Northborough where she also volunteered with various supporting roles within the Woman’s Guild and Bereavement Committees. She enjoyed quick trips to the casino, spending quality time with family and friends, a round or two of golf. She was known for competitiveness and strong hand towards anyone willing to challenge her to a game of Cribbage.

Helen is survived by her two loving children, Gretchen A. Youngdahl of Birmingham, AL and Christopher Youngdahl of Hadashville, Manitoba, Canada and two grandchildren Shea and Kaylee Youngdahl. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Young.

A calling hour will be held from 12:45pm to 1:45pm on Wednesday, June 1, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. Helen’s funeral will follow at 1pm in the funeral home. She will then be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
