WESTBOROUGH – Memorial Day observances got underway in Westborough on Monday morning, with a convoy of community leaders and organizations moving through their itinerary of stops and ceremonies throughout town.
The day began with a gathering at Minuteman Park on the shores of Sandra Pond before moving to St. Luke’s Cemetery.
Observances were due to continue throughout the morning, with additional stops at Pine Grove Cemetery, Midland Cemetery and the Forbes Municipal Building.
On a two year hiatus due to COVID-19, Westborough’s Memorial Day parade made its return this year, begining on South Street at 10 a.m.
Retired Westborough Veterans Services Officer Ken Ferrara is serving at this year’s parade grand marshal.
As events move forward in Westborough, neighboring communities are similarly scheduled to take to the streets on Monday as part of their respective Memorial Day events.
