SOUTHBOROUGH – A two-car crash in Southborough sent at least five people to the hospital on Monday with injuries ranging from moderate to serious, according to the Southborough Fire Department.

The Fire Department shared photos and information from the crash site shortly before 2:30 p.m., reporting a crash at the intersection of Route 9 and Crystal Pond Road.

Crash follows other incidents in area

This crash came on a busy day for local emergency crews.

Westborough officials reported at least three crashes on Monday morning, prior to the Southborough incident, with multiple injuries across those crashes.

The first took place before 7:30 a.m. on the MassPike, reportedly injuring three.

The Fire Department then shared news of a second crash less than an hour later and within a half mile of the initial incident. More injuries were reported in that crash.

Busy on the MassPike, Westborough crews were also called to a stretch of Route 9 just prior to its intersection with Otis Street around 9 a.m., where another crash resulted in injuries.
