Northborough – Alice M. Nye, of Northborough MA, passed away suddenly on June 3rd at the age of 85. After losing Herbert M. Nye, her husband of nearly 67 years and Kevin M. Nye her youngest son early this year, she truly died of a broken heart.
Alice is survived by her children and their spouses Dennis and Rita Nye of Coventry RI, Timothy and Nancy Nye of Brookline NH, Karen and Daniel Cooney of Auburn MA, and her daughter in law Sherrill Gavel of Milford MA, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, her brothers Art Gagne, Clyde Gagne, her sister Blanche Smith and many other close friends and extended family. She is predeceased by her brother Roger Gagne.
Alice met the love of her life in Northampton, MA, and soon after they were married on July 16, 1955. They moved to Northborough in 1966 where they raised their family and enjoyed their life together.
Alice was a mother and housewife while also working part time at department stores, the local school cafeteria, and selling Avon. She enjoyed gambling at the casino with Herb, being an avid member of her community, and playing Bocce ball and shuffle board at the Vincent F. Picard American Legion Post with her friends. She also loved hosting parties, dinners, and get togethers for family and friends at her home.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation period at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 11:00 am-12:00 pm. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
