UPDATE: Westborough tennis teams to play for state championships

UPDATE: This article has been update to note that tickets are now on sale for this weekend’s state championship matches. 

WESTBOROUGH – Both the Westborough High School boys and girls tennis teams will head to Cambridge on Saturday for their respective Division II state championship competitions.

Both matches are scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. on the MIT campus.

Ranked second overall in the division, the boys team rumbled through its postseason schedule to date, sweeping King Philip Regional High School and Dartmouth in the Round of 32 and the Round of 16.

They then squeezed past Walpole with a 3-2 win in the state quarterfinals before punching a ticket to the finals with a 4-1 win over Duxbury on Tuesday.

Also ranked second overall, the girls team opened its postseason with 5-0 sweeps of Walpole and Burlington.

The Rangers continued to move through their bracket, knocking off Longmeadow and Bishop Stang to qualify for this weekend’s final competition.

The boys team will face top-ranked Concord-Carslile.

The girls team will face fourth-ranked Masconomet Regional High School.

Both finals matches will take place at MIT’s duPont Tennis Courts.

Tickets are now available online and must be purchased in advance of Saturday’s competitions.
