NORTHBOROUGH – Northborough’s Senior Center held its first ever cornhole game against the town’s fire department on Thursday afternoon.
The event, organizers said, marked a celebration of summer weather. It was also an invitation for community members to visit the Senior Center itself.
The Senior Center’s newly appointed director, Kendra Faldetta, helped organize the game, tackling this task after coming to Northborough from her previous role as Acting Director of the Millbury Senior Center.
Faldetta has been the director in Northborough for the last three months.
Though a first in the cornhole format, this not the first time that the Senior Center has teamed up with the Northborough Fire Department.
Among collaborations, the Senior Center has worked with the fire department to host COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
Northborough firefighter/paramedic Joel Rosenkrantz, was one of many participants in Thursday’s event.
“It’s a great way to bring the community together and I hope we have more of these,” Rosenkrantz said. “It was good fun and I think everyone had a good time.”
The fire department ended up winning the cornhole game.
The afternoon was then finished with celebratory cookies and lemonade for all players and spectators.
