Beverly A. MarotiShrewsbury – Beverly A (Sloan) Maroti, 79, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully at home with her children by her side on Saturday, July 16th.

She was born the daughter of Clara M. (Sargentelli) Salatka and Richard J. Sloan. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Endre S. Maroti, her stepfather George Salatka and stepmother Lucille Sloan.

Bev was born in Worcester and grew up on Grafton Hill. She graduated from Commerce High in Worcester, class of 1961B.

Nostalgic stories of her youth may have been greatly exaggerated but they included memories of: Cruising down Shrewsbury Street in a mustang convertible and heading to Speedy’s on the regular. Entering Jitterbug contests with her cousin Roger. Becoming Miss Harr Ford, 1964. And how she did not care for Elvis.

She lived in the city and in Millbury until moving to Shrewsbury in 1979 where she has lived since.

She worked at Morgan Construction Company in Worcester for 27 years retiring as an IT Communications Manager. She was also a realtor working with Spangler Select in Shrewsbury for many years.

Bev will be missed terribly by her children; Cheryl Dionne and her husband Dan of Lincolnton, NC, Michael Shugrue and his wife Keri of Sterling, Lisa Rosum and her husband Robert of Shrewsbury and Lynn Shugrue of Boylston. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan and James Schramm, Dakota Shugrue, Sabrina and Brendan McDuffie and a great-grandson, Jay Schramm. She also leaves her sisters, Marie Mesale of Grafton, Charlotte Penney of Grafton, and Lucille Lee of Harvard and many nieces and nephews.

Beverly surely leaves a void in the hearts of a million friends. She touched everyone she met. There wasn’t a stranger that wasn’t drawn to her and there wasn’t anyone she wouldn’t befriend. Bev loved spending time with her friends from Dean Park Pizza and the gym.

Beverly was a lot of things to so many people during her life. She was a daughter, a wife, a sister, a friend, but most importantly she was Mom and Grammy. The most important people in her life were her children, their children and of course their dogs.

A very heartfelt thank you to the VNA and especially to Patience who was an angel on earth for Beverly in her last days and always brought a smile to her face.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, on Thursday, July 21, 2022, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm.
