Karen L. JohnsonYork, Maine – Karen L. Johnson, 57, of York, ME, formerly of Northborough, MA, died on July, 10, 2022 after a short period of declining health.

Karen was born on Nov. 21st, 1964, in Worcester, MA, the youngest of 4 children. She grew up in Northborough and graduated from Assabet Valley Vocational High School in Marlborough where she played on the varsity basketball team. During her teen years, you could find Karen frequently at Mustang horse riding stables, or, being an avid skier, spending many winter nights with friends and family at Ski Ward.

Karen worked for the US Post Office early in her career, and then as a contractor in the residential home improvement field where she worked closely with her brothers; painting, flooring, and providing job estimates.

Those who knew Karen will remember her as being fun-loving, compassionate, and having a great sense of humor. She loved spending time with her beloved nieces and nephews and with the family visiting from Arizona. She also loved living near the beach, where she hosted numerous summertime parties with her many friends.

Karen also enjoyed riding the back roads of Maine on her Harley Davidson and camping in Maine, including Arcadia and Old Orchard Beach. She especially loved her dog, Max, who she spoiled every day.

Karen is survived by her partner of many years, Nancy Kelly, Nancy’s sons Nelson and Ryan Kelly and families, of Arizona, her mother, Joan (Enman) Brigham of Kittery, ME, sister Linda Corbett and husband Patrick of Northborough, MA, brother Steven Johnson and partner Jacqui Coons of N. Hampton, NH, and brother James Johnson and wife Suzanne of Worcester, MA. Also, nephews Jack and Kevin Corbett and nieces Chelsea, and Madison Johnson, stepmother Edna Johnson of Kennebunk, ME and family and the family of Arnold Brigham. She is pre-deceased by her father, H. Conrad Johnson and stepfather Arnold Brigham.

At Karen’s request, no services will be held. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held on Saturday, August 13th at 1:00 pm at the American Legion, 402 West Main St., Northborough, MA, 01532.  Friends and family are welcome.
