SHREWSBURY – Shrewsbury’s food truck festival is inching closer, with community members invited to attend the event at Oak Middle School next month.

The festival, which is being sponsored by the Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department, will be held on Aug. 5 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.

“[It] should be a fun night,” Director Angela Snell told the Community Advocate in May.

There will be over 10 food trucks at the festival serving up entrees and sweet treats.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the food from the food trucks.

There will be music courtesy of DJ Larry Falk and a color station and lawn games.

This festival comes as Shrewsbury is in the midst of its second full year of holding its Food Truck Thursday events.

Food Truck Thursdays are held every week in front of Town Hall on Maple Avenue. The event began unofficially during the early days of the pandemic when some food truck operators reached out to Shrewsbury staff seeking a place to sell food.

Last year, Snell helped organize the Food Truck Thursdays with the help of the food truck operators.

Now, there’s nearly double the amount of food trucks participating in Food Truck Thursdays, including Anzio’s Brick Oven Pizza, Say Cheese, Uhlman’s Ice Cream, Moe’s Sweet Eats, Potato Potato, Birds Nest Italian Street Food, Trolley Dogs, Kona Ice and Shishkaberry’s.
