Ruth Keyes TonnerMarlborough – Ruth Keyes Tonner, 93 died on July 24, 2022.

Ruth was born on July 12, 1929 in Boston MA and was raised in Milton, MA. She attended St. Gregory’s High School and the New England College of Art.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Richard C. Tonner, Sr. “Dick”, her parents Francis J. Keyes, Sr. and Ruth T. Keyes, and her brother Francis J. Keyes, Jr. (Dottie).

Her early career included creating fashion illustrations for several of Boston’s leading department stores. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Southboro, and was known for her decoration of the statuary at the entrance of the church. She made hundreds of blankets for the Linus Project, was active at the Marlborough Public Library, the Marlborough PTA, Marian High School, Marlborough Little League and the American Legion.

Ruth is survived by her four children, Richard C. Tonner, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Chevy Chase, MD, Gregory T. Tonner of Atlanta, GA, Timothy F. Tonner, of Marlborough, MA, and Patricia A. Tonner of Washington, DC, and three grandchildren, Sawyer Tonner, Zach Tonner and Mary Margaret Tonner.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 9:00- 10:15 am at the Short and Rowe Funeral Home, 95 West Main Street, Marlborough, MA.

A private burial to follow.
