Beverly A. AkersonShrewsbury – Beverley A. (Gallo) Akerson, of Shrewsbury and formerly of Auburn, died Wednesday, August 3, 2022 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She leaves her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald E. Akerson; their children: Karen E. Hession and her husband John of Westborough, Mark D. Akerson and his wife Cheryl of Shrewsbury, Michael J. Akerson and his wife Lisa of Sterling, and Kathy A. Catania (late Frank Catania) of Barnstable; grandchildren: Molly, Patrick, Maria, Chris, Kevin, Caroline, Michael, and William; and her sisters, Jayne Mong and her husband Paul, of Worcester, and Barbara Clem and her husband Jon, of Oxford. Beverley also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Beverley was born in Worcester, to the late Jerry A. Gallo and Irma (Ventres) Gallo – she was a graduate of St. Stephen’s High School in Worcester, and attended Worcester State University. She worked as an Insurance Administrator at Robert Fine & Associates and the Sullivan Group Insurance Company, both in Worcester.

Beverley loved spending time with her family, cherished every moment with them, and never missed a game, party or any event. She also enjoyed her near 60-year bridge group friends, golf friends at Westborough Country Club, new friends from Orchard Meadows, friends from St. Stephens High and many others. She loved to cook, read, spend time at the beach, and lunch with friends. Beverley enjoyed her summers in Mashpee and the Popponesset Marketplace with her beloved grandchildren, and also cherished her trips to Italy with her father and sisters visiting relatives. Beverley also treasured her many trips to Foxwoods and Twin Rivers with her good friends.

Beverley was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Shrewsbury.

The family extends appreciation to Dr. Allen Chang, Jackie Skehan of Notre Dame Home Healthcare and Nina Musong of Worcester Home Healthcare.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Akerson family from 9:30 – 11:00 AM on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM at Saint Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston, followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
