David H. HollisWells, Maine – David H. Hollis, a lifelong accomplished pianist and singer, passed away peacefully in the York Hospital, at the age of 86 years old, on Thursday, August 4, 2022. David was born in Marlborough, MA and raised in Northborough, a son to the late Ralph E. and Zilpha (Doughty) Hollis.

From an early age he discovered a natural talent for music, most especially the piano. After graduating from Northborough High School, David joined the U.S.O. where he proudly entertained the troops during the Korean War. A highlight was performing with his troop on the Ed Sullivan Show. For all of his life David worked as an entertainer; his skill as a pianist and soloist were well known in the Southern Maine area. He was a longtime active member of the Congregational Church of Wells and previously oversaw the music program and church choir. David also performed at the Atria Kennebunk and other assisted living facilities where he brought much joy to the residents there. He enjoyed basketball in his earlier days and caring for his flower gardens.

David is survived by his sister, Nancy A. Wheeler and a nephew, Matthew T. Wheeler, both whom reside in Northborough. David was preceded in death by his nephew, Warren Wheeler. Friends and family will remember David for his sense of humor and his unwavering promise to lend a hand or to give solid advice to those in need. He was trustworthy to a fault.

A calling hour will be held from 9:30 -10:30 AM on Friday, August 12 at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. David’s funeral will immediately follow at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. David will be laid to rest beside his mother and nephew in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough. A separate memorial service will be scheduled in Wells, Maine, in the near future.
